Kruthi Grover of The New Indian Express wrote that Eega lacks a proper structure despite having effective visual effects and editing. She added that the film turns into a "silly animated movie for kids" after the fly's birth.[63] Reviewing Makkhi for Dainik Bhaskar, Mayank Shekhar said the film's premise is stretched beyond its potential and that as a result, it "just goes on and on and on" in its "original, tacky, raw form".[61]
Adam Nayman of The Ringer listed Eega among "The 25 Best Foreign Films of the Decade".[153] In August 2015, Pooja Darade of The Times of India included Eega in her list of "Telugu movies one must watch before dying"; she said it "has set a high standard of how creativity can be used effectively".[154] In an April 2016 interview with The Hindu, Tamil actor Suriya said films like Sagara Sangamam (1983), Eega, Baahubali: The Beginning, and Manam (2014) are remembered much longer than more conventional films.[155]

The 3D tech-specs here are better than what Bollywood has mostly been serving up. The makkhi itself looks too designer perfect to be true, but never mind. When it comes to finishing off the bad guy with flair, he could give Rajinikanth a run for his money.Makkhi won't be gunning for the popular Best Actor trophies. The CGI team, though, demands standing ovation for the effort.

Rajeev,I agree that movie is Good. But not to the rating of 4/5. The story is good upto some extent and later on the story slows down and boring.Idea innovative but story telling not upto the mark.I go with 3/5
Perhaps, the ace director Ss Rajamouli pinned lot of hopes on the success of 'Makkhi', the dubbed version of the super hit movie 'Eega'. Unfortunately, the movie had to face huge losses. As per the trade sources, the movie has collected around Rs. 50 lakhs each for the first two days and on the third day of its release, the movie collected just Rs. 20 lakhs in entire North India. Overall, the movie is expected to collect Rs. 3 crores including satellite rights for its Hindi version. However, the amount invested for 'Makkhi' is around Rs. 7 crores which include prints and publicity and the total loss of the film would be around Rs. 4 crores.
Back in 2012, S.S. Rajamouli also opted for this tried-and-tested formula against the backdrop of reincarnation in his Telugu film, Eega (Makkhi). However, the filmmaker added his own flavour by introducing the punar-janam of a man into housefly. And it was probably the first time ever that we witnessed a makkhi seeking badla. Who would have imagined it?
Kichcha Sudeepa has played villains in many films in his career, however, his antagonist role in Eega was evil AF. In the movie, Sudeep sexually harassing Bindu and killing Jani gave me enough reasons to hate his character. His facial expressions and body language were the cherry on the cake, so much so that each time he was in danger or pain, we laughed at his agony.
For the ones who have watched Eega knows what I am talking about. The rebirth process of Jani as the housefly was a visual treat to watch. The visuals of makkhi coming out from a shell as it rises from the ashes like a hero and exploring its wings were the highlights of him being reborn. Watch it here.

The first 29 minutes of director S.S. Rajamouli's live action/animated tale of reincarnation was so sweet it was a diabetic coma waiting to happen! Then the movie gods stepped in and decided to bless us with one of the most hilarious revenge films I've ever come across! It was incredibly entertaining and a real joy to watch!
An insane concept done justice with complete follow through. The sheer ambition of attempting to pull this off is ridiculous and the fact that they did it is even more so. The very ending takes a big dump on an otherwise great climax, but what a climax no less and what a movie.
Jack is one of my favorite people. He has become one of my best friends over the past couple of years. There are many reasons why he is one of my favorite people, but one massive reason is that he totally understands my cinematic sensibilities. He just knows what I like in movies. Maybe it is because we have watched so many together, or maybe we're just on the same wavelength.
I had assumed the fly would have some kind of internal monologue/VO throughout the movie but the choice not to do that is so goddamn brilliant and made me think about Rajamouli as the modern inheritor of silent cinema's lost genius...it's in the way he treats film as a plastic medium whose affordances haven't even begun to be realized; how he works at the edge of what is imaginatively and materially available; how he treats limitations as opportunities and possibilities as dares.
There is a moment in this film where "You've Got a Friend in Me" just gets needle dropped out of nowhere. At the midway point, you have a fly write "I will kill you" after crashing the villain's car before the movie cuts to an intermission. Something like this almost seems impossible to believe, but S. S. Rajamouli can certainly make you believe that a man can die, reincarnate as a fly, in order to take revenge on the man who killed him.
